What is a Healthy Food Serving Size?

Healthy Kids Challenge suggests using familiar everyday items to imagine the “Look” of a healthy serving size. Use these guides when eating out or at home to help you enjoy a healthy balance!

For example:

  • A deck of playing cards is roughly the size of a 3 oz. cooked meat serving.
  • One tennis ball is approximately the size of 1/2 cup of rice or pasta.
  • A ping-pong ball is about 2 Tbsp. of peanut butter.
