Try these family fun ideas this month to enjoy more fruits, veggies, whole grains and dairy in the day!
- Eat crunchy veggies instead of chips with your favorite low-fat salad dressing.
- Prepare instant oatmeal or whole grain hot cereal with low-fat milk in place of water. For extra nutrition add raisins or other dried fruits and almonds.
- Try pureed berries, apples, peaches or pears for a sauce on grilled poultry or fish. Top pancakes, French toast and waffles with pureed fruit as well.
- Make a healthy banana split by topping a sliced banana with a scoop of low-fat flavored yogurt sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs.
